Reality 5.4 SP2 is Released!

Reality 5.4 Service Pack 2 is here! We are not only proud of the technical novelty this release brings but, as a result of the new license structure, we can now officially support the Open Studio License Program (OSLP) applicants in obtaining their licenses. The landing page of the OSLP is now updated with the latest eligibility information and detailed FAQ. Visit now and stay up-to-date and if you have not applied yet visit the program information.

With Reality 5.4 Service Pack 2, we’re introducing a powerful update that delivers significant advancements to nodegraph performance, collaboration, and media workflow flexibility. This is more than a service pack—it’s a major release, an evolution of both our backend framework and its frontend controls, designed to streamline complex workflows, maximize system efficiency, and offer greater control, from improved media I/O and collaborative tools to the improved live configuration mode.

What’s New

Reality 5.4 SP2 comes with Reality Hub 1.6, NODOS 1.2 and Unreal Engine 5.4.4.

  • Subgraphs: Starting with NODOS 1.2, nodegraphs can be collapsed into a single node, allowing the creation of a filesystem-like nodegraph. This allows users to organize their nodegraphs in a much more readable way.

  • Media I/O: NODOS 1.2 introduces a new media I/O core architecture. Starting with this 1.2 version, all video I/O mechanisms will rely on the media I/O core. This allows all gamma, color space, and pixel format conversions to be reused between different video I/O boards and any other media streaming / transport mechanisms. Media I/O core heavily relies on subgraphs. AJA IN/OUT nodes are the very first examples of using subgraphs and media I/O core together.

All the supported standards and implementations are in the public source code repository of NODOS. You can reach here: https://github.com/nodos-dev/mediaio

  • Collaborative Undo/Redo Support: You can now undo/redo while collaborating in real-time with other users in Reality Hub, when using the nodegraph.

  • Partial Node Update: This release provides drastic nodegraph performance improvements with Unreal Projects with a large number of project actors.

  • AJA Node Updates: The comprehensive update of the AJA node offers a notable increase in performance and usability across the board.

    • AJA Firmware and Driver Updates: The firmware and driver versions for AJA have been updated.
    • Enhanced AJA Node: The AJA node has been redesigned for improved user experience. A simple double-click now reveals the node’s contents, providing more detailed information to enhance usability.
    • Improved Interlaced Detection: Enhanced interlaced detection capabilities reduce video I/O issues, particularly benefiting users in the USA. Workarounds are no longer necessary.
    • Auto-Resize Feature: Automatic resizing functionality has been added, simplifying workflows.
  • Live Configuration Mode: We improved live configuration mode implementation to ensure real time performance. In live mode users cannot modify nodegraph. Nodegraph is intuitive to prevent user errors that could be vital for live productions.
